51 Downing Street, NY

Square Footage: 13,762
Occupancy: Residential (Multi-family)
Project Type: Apartments Renovation

The MEP design for 51 Downing Street involved a historic residential property located within the landmark district of Greenwich Village, originally constructed in 1879. The project required careful coordination to meet stringent aesthetic requirements. The HVAC System – A chilled water heat pump system was implemented in place of conventional VRF technology, selected for its reliability and adaptability. The design was tailored for long-term occupancy while accounting for the phase-out of R-410A refrigerant by 2033, ensuring both performance and future compliance. A residential generator system was incorporated to provide backup power during outages, delivering peace of mind and resiliency for the client. Collectively, these solutions balance the preservation of historic architectural character with the integration of efficient, future-ready engineering systems, reflecting MEP’s commitment to technical precision and client-focused design

Engineering precision with a client-driven approach to preservation and performance.
